Please read the Tell tale Heart and do the questions below:


Questions for E.A. Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart

1.      What physical problem does the narrator admit to?

2.      What orderly preparations does the narrator make while the victim is sleeping? What is the narrator’s visual fixation?  His aural one?

3.      On the eighth night, he carries out his awful deed; describe what the narrator does.  What response does the old man make?

4.      Describe the old man’s mortal terror.

5.      How does the old man die?

6.      How and where does the narrator hide the body?

7.      Why do the police appear? 

8.      How does the murderer try to convince them of his innocence?

9.      What is the motive for the murder? 

10.   Is the narrator sane or insane?  How do you know?
